TRICLEAR  SPECIFICATION SHEET

TRICLEAR is a bright finished, electrogalvanized steel with a passivating chrome post treatment for increased corrosion resistance and reduced fingerprinting.  TRICLEAR was developed to fit the need for a corrosion resistant, bright finished electrogalvanized steel.  It maintains the formability and weldability for which electrogalvanized steel is noted.

TRICLEAR is produced using cold rolled steel (as substrate) and applying a zinc coating via electrodeposition.  TRICLEAR adheres to Triumph Industries Quality Standards and conforms to ASTM designation A591/A591M-98.

Brightness on the TRICLEAR  product is accomplished through a polishing process performed after plating.  The material passes through a series of 3M Scotch-Brite rolls, resulting in a “bright” finished product.  To increase the corrosion  protection, the TRICLEAR  product travels through a roll coater where a chrome passivation post treatment is applied.  The strip is then sent through an IR oven where the coating is cured at elevated temperature.

Chromate Coating:  1-3 milligrams per square foot per side.

Corrosion Protection as indicated by Neutral Salt Spray (NSS) testing: 48-72 hours to 10% white rust.  The finish has a uniform appearance ranging from clear to light yellowish-green color.  The appearance may vary slightly, between and within the same production run.

Formability: Electrogalvanizing  does not alter the base metal properties, allowing the customer to order in the same manner as cold rolled steel.  Triumph Industries is capable of providing various grades of cold rolled steel product from DS through high strength.

Weldability:  Electrogalvanized steel offers improved weldability over hot dipped galvanized steels.

Coating Adherence:  Electrogalvanized zinc has a strong bond to the base metal.  The product can be formed, rolled or stamped without flaking, powdering, peeling or cracking.

Triumph Industries  provides one side (top) prime material.   Marks that can be attributed to the polishing process are acceptable.  These can include small scratches and chromate stains. Independent of surface appearance, the coating will perform as per the product’s functional specification(s).   All marks will be kept to a minimum and generally, will not be seen clearly from a distance of five feet.  Two side inspection is available at additional cost.

PERFORMANCE BENEFITS

BRIGHT APPEARANCE

·         Electrogalvanized Steel in a bright finish is a cost saving alternative to bright zinc piece plating.

FORMABILITY

·         Electrogalvanized Steel is consistent and uniform in appearance across the sheet and has a strong bond to the base material.  The product can be formed, rolled or stamped without flaking, powdering, peeling or cracking.

INCREASED DIE LIFE AND MINIMAL ZINC BUILD UP

·         Electrogalvanized Steel exhibits less flaking and spalling than other materials, because of tighter zinc adherence.

CONDUCTIVITY

·         Electrogalvanized Steel is preferred by the electronic industry due to its superior conductivity.

CORROSION RESISTANCE

·         Electrogalvanized Steel has a very uniform chromate coating application, with documentable resistance to white rust.

CONSISTENT ROCKWELL READINGS

·         Electrogalvanized Steel exhibits Rockwell readings with reduced variability in the specified range(s).

WELDABILITY

·         Electrogalvanized Steel can be welded on cold rolled steel schedules.

EDGE PROTECTION

·         Electrogalvanized Steel offers consistent edge protection with no slivering to expose raw edges.

AVAILABLE WITH RESTRICTED GAUGE TOLERANCE

·         Electrogalvanized Steel can be ordered to strip steel tolerances.

We are competitive. If some of these performance issues are not essential to your product line, a lower cost Electrogalvanized Steel product may be available.
